3. How to tell the time.
Sentence pattern
-ji + desu.
--- It's o'clock.
 | Ni-ji desu. --- It's 2 o'clock.

 | Hachi-ji desu. --- It's 8 o'clock.

 | Ku-ji han desu. --- It's half past nine.

4. How to ask the time.
Sentence pattern
Ima nan-ji desu ka. --- What time is it now?

Ex. 1
Q: Ima nan-ji desu ka. --- What time is it now?
A: 5-ji desu. --- It's 5 o'clock.
Ex. 2
Q: Ima nan-ji desu ka. --- What time is it now?
A: 10-ji han desu. --- It's half past ten.
5. How to ask starting time.
Sentence pattern
Pâtî wa nan-ji kara desu ka. --- What time will the party start (from)?
Ex. 1
Q: Depâto wa nan-ji kara desu ka. --- What time does the department store open (from)?
A: 9-ji kara desu. --- It opens from 9 o'clock.
